Sold to the highest bidder

I don't know if anyone remembers the Simpsons episode "Fraudcast News", in which Lisa wrote an independent newspaper and it was fun, up until the moment when everybody started writing their own newspapers and there was no one left to read all those newspapers... I don't think there's anything that can describe our situation better. Everybody writes, everyone knows everything, but nobody can make the time to read what was written.... I should know, because not long ago, that was me.

It's completely irrelevant if I know everything or nothing, because that won't influence anybody. More to the point, nobody cares! On the other hand, I always knew that one day I'll start writing again, as soon as I find the topics. This time I'll be writing about things that influence me, my own opinions, my experiences as a freelancer in Macedonia (how does it feel to be told on Friday afternoon that your services will no longer be needed three hours later; how does it feel to fight battles for months, just so you get the money someone owes you for a whole months work, etc.), the search for a stable job, everything that is important to me...

As time went by, I realized that the society of Earth today is closest to the Ferengi culture in Star Trek, which dictates that we should abide by their rules of acquisition, mainly no. 285: "No good deed goes unpunished" and no. 242: "More is good, all is better". So, I've decided to forget all my high ideals, to push aside my over-pronounced sense of loyalty which turned out to be quite unprofitable and at times harmful to me and to "sell myself to the highest bidder!"

Once more I start from scratch, I'm letting go of all previous disagreements and I'll simply write. Anyone can read, everyone who's civilized can comment. And time will tell us everything else.
